Little Bird Bistro also known as ”Petit Oiseau” was one my top 10 list of restaurants to visit in 2013. I picked Little Bird because I heard good things and also kept seeing their name creeping up in the Portland foodie community. I think most people if they’re not looking would pass by this little gem. It sits right on 6th avenue in downtown Portland. Its petite blue restaurant sign is chic and lovely. The restaurant was a collaborative effort of three men looking to strive for greatness. The decor has a classic european elegance meets hip Portland. All in a good way of course. No tackiness in this establishment. They strive to provide every customer with good food, good wine and good service.

In 2012 Little Bird was named the Oregonians 2012 Restaurant of the year. You can see a video {HERE} of Chef Erik Van Kley’s unique approach to bringing  french bistro cuisine with a Portland flare. Little Bird is the perfect spot to take your special someone too for any occasion.

I absolutely adored Little Bird Bistro. This is my favorite place I have eaten in 2013 so far. The quality of the food, drink and service are unmatched. Every bite and sip was like a party in my mouth. I had an extremely hard time deciding on what to eat. In the end here is what we chose. Both of our entrée’s were the specials that our server told us about when we sat down.

What we ordered:
Oysters on the half shell(The hubs said they were amazing)
Field Greens Salad
Butter Lettuce Salad
Macaroni Gratin
Spaghetti Squash Gratin
Horseradish Crusted Halibut
Bacon Wrapper Pork Loin

When you approach Little Bird just to the left of the front door you can take a peek into their kitchen. This is where I fell in love! With these cute little baby macaroons.

Now being my first time at Little Bird I didn’t realize that you get these complementary at the end of your meal. They come with your check kind of like the after dinner mint. You can also buy them for fifty cents a piece. I opted for the free one since we were going somewhere else for dessert. They bake a new flavor I think everyday if not then very often. Here’s how they come with your bill.

4fork Seriously Little Bird deserves 5 forks but since our highest rating is 4 I guess that’s what they get. This place was incredible. All the flavors melded perfectly with one another and I will be sending family and friends here.

Side Notes:
Downtown so street or garage parking only
$$$ You’ll pay a good amount but the food is to die for
FREE BABY MACAROONS  at the end of your meal
