The Country Cat is located off Stark in the Mt.Tabor/Montavilla neighborhood on SE 80th & Stark. The Country Cat is known for their home style southern influenced food. I had heard raving reviews from the Portland foodie world to be one of Portland’s best brunch spots.

I was really disappointed with our first and probably last visit to The Country Cat. We had to wait over an hour before we were seated (granted we came on Sunday for brunch) but we had to painfully watch other groups be seated promptly just because they had more than a party of two in their group. It was just the two of us so I get that they want to save certain tables for larger groups, but the wait was just too long and not really accommodating to us. Once we were seated, our service was not great either. We ordered Cinnamon Rolls to start with which never came & then later we asked if they were coming.. our server said the oven was broken? It would have been nice to be offered something else or even have her acknowledge that they were not coming. Not quite sure what happened there. I ordered my old standby the Eggs Benedict which I did enjoy. The hollandaise sauce was a nice light lemony flavor that was not heavy like hollandaise sauce often tends to be. Eggs benedict is traditonally served on an english muffin, but The Country Cat served theirs on house made biscuits.
